Drama and school productions

Drama is a particular strength of BIS-NY and at The British International School of New York is incorporated both through the curriculum for all students and as an extra curricular endeavor. Each year, our full-scale two annual musical productions are open to students in Years 4 through 9, but there are also a number of smaller, but no less impressive endeavors by students in the lower school.

Rehearsals take place after school, where our actors learn lines, music, choreography, blocking, and develop characters. With this comes learning about responsibility, making new friends, and celebrating each other's talents.

Let's not forget the students who participate off the stage, with the set design club, backstage crew, and the young musicians whose dedication behind the scenes has allowed magic to happen on stage. Students are transformed into makers and builders!

Teamwork, risk taking, commitment, and laughter by all contribute to make each show a success whatever the age of our players and backstage crew! Past productions have included Annie, The Lion King, Peter Pan, Beauty & the Beast, Willy Wonka and Bugsy Malone.
