Year 5 & 6 Book Reviews: Endling

If there's one thing we like to do at BIS-NY it's read and share our recommendations. That's why Year 5 & 6 have set up their very own website enabling them to share book reviews and discuss the books they enjoy. Here's one of those reviews...

Endling: The Last is the story of Byx, a Dairne, who is determined to find more Dairnes after the slaughter of her pack makes her fear she is the endling of her species. Dairnes are doglike creatures who walk erect, have opposable thumbs, glissarries that allow them to glide for short distances, and most importantly, the ability to tell truth from lies. Dairnes have been slaughtered for centuries because the monarchy has long ruled with lies and deception. Dairnes, with their ability to tell if someone is lying, could dispose of the Murdano, the ruler of the kingdom of Nedarra and convince others to join their cause with relative ease.

If you like adventure books with a little fantasy and lots of suspense, then this book is for you. This book is full of twists and turns at every corner and will make you desperate to find the answer to every question.

I give this book a rating of five stars because the characters are very convincing and everyone has a story, the villains all have motives, and the author combines fantasy with real-world problems and suspense. Best of all, at the end of the book the story’s not over: a second book awaits!
