At The British International School of New York we appreciate that lunch is not just an important part of refuelling our students' hungry minds and busy bodies, but also a lovely opportunity to catch up with friends and experience new flavors. We place great importance on encouraging our young diners to show good table manners, to try new foods, reach for fruits and vegetables, and make smart choices that will lead to a lifetime of good health.
Our lunch programme is proudly provided by our onsite caterers Flik, a first-rate team of chefs and servers who work hard to ensure our lunches are tasty, nutritionally balanced and varied and that the children look forward to lunchtime every day. All meals are prepared from scratch on-site using small batch cooking. A main entrée, vegetarian entrée, starch, two veggie options and two soup options are offered daily. Children may also head to the deli-bar for a sandwich or the salad bar, which boasts a daily rotation of fresh vegetables, whole grains, composed salads, grilled chicken, and beans along with low fat yogurt and cheeses. Our caterers source fresh, local ingredients and all meat & dairy items are hormone and antibiotic free. Dessert is served daily and may consist of fresh fruit, pudding, apple sauce as well as the occasional home baked treat. Our lunch programme is prepared in a nut-free kitchen, using nut-free ingredients.
We also provide a healthy morning snack for all students.
