BIS-NY Hosts NY Debate League Inaugural Event

BIS-NY was one of the very first schools to not only participate but also to host a tournament in the newly formed “New York Debate League”. HRH Princess Alexandra Visits The British International School of New York

Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra visited New York’s only British International School, The British International School of New York on October 26, 2011. During her visit the Princess enjoyed a choral recital, two pieces of music and some moving poetry performed by students ranging from 4-14 years old. iPads make an entrance at The British International School of New York

Today Mr. Baxter introduced Ms. Ottley’s Reception class to our new iPad cart and they had a great time exploring the letter G and the number 3! The iPad cart will be accessible to all students and offers another technological tool for exploring and learning while in the classroom in addition to our existing lap-top carts.

The families and staff at The British International School of New York are delighted to announce the visit of Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra to their school this October. The Princess will be visiting the school in order to rededicate the Princess Alexandra Library, the academic heart of the school which directly overlooks Manhattan’s east river. Matt Frei Visits BIS-NY

BBC journalist Matt Frei entertained and informed students from Years 5 to 8 with his anecdotes from across the world. Students were rapt by his thrilling stories that ranged from landing in disaster torn Haiti to interviewing his personal hero, Aung Sun Suu Kyi, whilst she was under house arrest in Burma. The seemingly perilous journeys, near death collisions and experiences with all manner of famous and infamous personalities kept everyone on the edge of their seats!
