The School and The Parent
As Parents, your involvement and encourgaemnt is vital from an early stage as your children begin to work towards their school transition.
At the beginning of Year 6 Parents receive a School Selection Questionnaire, following which the Headmaster meets with parents to discuss initial thoughts and observations pertaining to their next school. As students progress through the upper years of the school, the school works with your family to inform on specific entrance procedures and deadlines. Parents will be encouraged to visit the top three schools of choice with their children and teaching staff collect a compilation of student records and achievements, in preparation for writing their references.
For transfers into UK schools, parents may need to register with the Independent Schools Examination Board for the 11+ or 13+ Common Entrance. Applications need to be registered in the Autumn Term of Year 8, for Year 9 entry. It is important to know that for certain schools applications for admission may need to be made prior to this. We can advise you if this is the case and recommend students for scholarships. Alternatively some schools in the UK set their own examinations.
For students wishing to transfer to a school in Manhattan, they may need to register for the Independent School Entrance Exam, known as ISEE tests. There is a natural transition at the end of Year 9 into many of these schools which we can advise you about. We provide parents with information about these tests, testing centres and will help familiarize students with the testing and interview preparation.
The results from both tests usually become available to parents in the Spring Term.
