The general feel of BIS-NY is one of such nurturing and happiness — what more could a child ask for? The school’s strong ethic to broaden children’s outlook on the world and current events gives them such confidence from a very early age; it gives the school its own unique personality not seen anywhere else in New York.

As students progress, the dynamic delivery of the English National Curriculum’s traditional disciplines taught through the IB Primary Years Programme’s philosophical framework continues to provide a relevant, engaging and challenging learning environment encouraging pupils to build on their knowledge and skills developed in the early years.

Teachers foster a collaborative atmosphere within the classroom that encourages pupils to be resourceful learners and independent thinkers with a keen sense of intellectual curiosity.

The Primary Years culminate at end of Year 6 with a pupil-led exhibition in which real world issues related to the pupil’s passions and interests are explored from multiple perspectives. Pupils demonstrate the independence and confidence developed over the years along with their high levels of synthesizing, evaluating and reflecting skills. This Exhibition is a significant event in the life of students at an IB World School and represents a celebration of the pupil’s readiness to transition from primary to middle school.
