In addition to teaching our students how to respect and grow within a diverse and nurturing community we have clearly defined structures to help support all age levels. These enable all our students the opportunity to reach their full potential during their time at BIS-NY and beyond. With enviably small student-teacher ratios, our classrooms provide a safe environment for students to become fully engaged in learning and inquiry, growing both intellectually and emotionally. Each student has a Form Teacher who in an atmosphere of individual support and care enables his/her students to achieve their academic and personal potential. Students in Year 2 and below also have a full-time Teaching Assistant for additional support. The Headmaster and Deputy Head are always available to discuss any areas of concern that may arise.
Our House system offers the opportunity for our students to meet and socialize with students in other age groups and classes and encourages students to share experiences in a supportive and safe environment. Within our diverse community with students and staff from different countries our House system successfully fosters a sense of belonging and community and helps all students identify with their class, house and the school, building a warm, welcoming and caring BIS-NY community.
The School has a full-time nurse available to all students and a dedicated SEN Coordinator for those who require additional assistance.
