Jane Peach

Assistant Teacher

Jane1 Peach, Mrs. J.

Mrs Peach received the degree of Bachelor of Education from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, with credit in both Education and Early Primary Years Curriculum Studies. Her teaching career began in North Yorkshire as a Year 3 teacher, ballet coach and Girls’ P.E. Teacher, and then continued in London, where she taught in a preparatory school in Muswell Hill for four years, first as a Science and Maths specialist in the Junior School and then as class teacher to Year 2.

She also coached soccer, and swimming and trained children for the London Guildhall School of Speech and Drama examinations.

She took a break from teaching when her daughter and son were small, and worked part- time as a youth worker with adolescents for Aberdeen City Council. She spent three years living in the Netherlands during this time and volunteered as an art and reading assistant at the Dutch ‘Basisschool’ (primary school) that her daughter attended, and with various organisations for young parents and their children.

In the 1990′s she returned to teaching in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire in Scotland, teaching children of every age group in the primary range, from Nursery upwards for 8 years, gaining a very broad experience in a variety of situations, ranging from challenging inner city to isolated rural settings.

She came to the United States in 2000, when another job move brought her husband to Manhattan. She worked as a volunteer tutor of adult literacy and ESOL and tutor trainer in Nassau County, Long Island, before the fall of 2006, when she was delighted to receive authorisation to work in the USA. While she looked for the opportunity to return to teaching, she worked for a well-known play and music program, leading classes in Art and Music for babies and toddlers and their parents, and in Pre-school and ‘Fitness Fun’ activities for 3- and 4-year-olds. She is delighted to be able to play a part in offering the ‘Best of British’ and International Education to children here in New York City.
