Catherine Allanson1 Allanson, Ms. C.Miss Allanson gained her BA (Hons.) in Education with Qualified Teacher Status from Durham University in July 1998. Already familiar with international education as she herself had been educated in both Nigeria and Singapore, Miss Allanson joined the British International School of New York in September 2007 with over nine years of teaching experience of Year One/Kindergarten.  She had previously worked since September 1998 at a co-educational school catering for the gifted and talented in Battersea, London.  During her time at the school, she took on roles of responsibility namely Lower School Maths co-ordinator, Key Stage One co-ordinator and Deputy Head of Lower School.  She was also the Lower School teacher representative on the P.T.A. committee.

Miss Allanson is delighted to be fulfilling a life long ambition of living and working in New York.  Miss Allanson, having had a wealth of experience with the National Curriculum is very pleased to be working in the realms of the IB programme but in a school where the National Curriculum is still highly influential in what is planned and taught. Since being at the school, she has attended a range of professional development courses focusing on the IB, Mathematics within the framework of the IB and most recently visual learning. Miss Allanson also previously had shared responsibility for co-ordinating Maths within the school.

Miss Allanson is a dog owner and enjoys the beautiful parks that New York has to offer at the weekends with her four-legged friends.
