Brendan O'Connell

Head of Physical Education

BrendanOconnell OConnell, Mr. B.Through secondary school Brendan O’Connell gained a good deal of experience coaching various sports to children and aspired to teach. Having been named Daily Telegraph Young Cricketer of the Year 1994, Brendan finished school and spent three years as a professional cricketer with Warwickshire County Cricket Club. He spent one autumn in South Africa training with Orange Free State Cricket Union and coaching in a local comprehensive school. This experience engendered a desire to travel. The prospect of combining teaching with travel proved very appealing.

After completing a degree in the Science of Sport and Exercise at Roehampton University, Brendan entered teaching via a GTP qualification acquired at Tiffin School, Kingston upon Thames, where he taught for two years, prior to joining BIS-NY.

He teaches using a variety of methods enabling students to enjoy their PE experience and harness their potential in sport.
