About the Teacher: Karly Powell
Karly Powell is a dancer/teacher/choreographer originally from Austin, TX. Her dance training began at age four studying ballet, tap, jazz and eventually modern, pointe, hip-hop and musical theater. When she was only fifteen she started teaching her own classes and has since taught at various dance studios and schools around the country, including the New York Kids Club. Ms. Powell attended Otterbein University in Westerville, OH as a dance scholarship recipient and during her time there was fortunate enough to work closely with Broadway choreographers, John Carrafa (Urinetown) and Randy Skinner (42nd Street). After graduating with a degree in Dance and Creative Writing, she moved to New York City in 2007. Her performing credits include Break Out In Song, Long Island City Rocks, as well as the Broadway Dance Center Student Showcase and The Choreographer’s Canvas, choreographed by Michelle Barber. One of her greatest joys is instilling the love of dance in the hearts of younger generations.
