Chess
Chess emphasizes creative problem solving and individual decision making. Classes consist of both group discussio
n and supervised play. Each student progresses at their own pace learning the moves and values of each piece to more advanced strategies.
Cost: $40 per class. Monday class is: $640 for the semester. Thursday class is: $680 for the semester.
There is also an option to purchase a kit for $50.
About the Teacher: Beatriz Marinello
This program is taught by WIM Beatriz Marinello, founder of Chess Educators LLC. and her team of chess coaches.
Beatriz is one of the top chess coaches and chess event organizers in the United States. She holds a Woman International Master title, is the Vice President of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and a former U.S. Chess Federation president. Beatriz is also a Trustee for the U.S. Chess Trust, a 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to the promotion and development of chess. She has established and runs numerous scholastic chess programs in New York City and has been involved in organizing National and International Chess Championships.
In 2008, Beatriz was awarded the prestigious Chess Educator of the Year Award by the University of Texas Dallas. Beatriz has made teaching chess to children a main focus in her life and continues to promote chess and education on both a national and international level.
