Matt Frei Visits BIS-NY
June 1, 2011
BBC journalist Matt Frei entertained and informed students from Years 5 to 8 with his anecdotes from across the world. Students were rapt by his thrilling stories that ranged from landing in disaster torn Haiti to interviewing his personal hero, Aung Sun Suu Kyi, whilst she was under house arrest in Burma. The seemingly perilous journeys, near death collisions and experiences with all manner of famous and infamous personalities kept everyone on the edge of their seats! Dominic thanked Mr. Frei expressing the students gratitude for this welcome and educational opportunity.
Later in the afternoon, children from Years 3 and 4 had the opportunity to listen to him and ask him questions. He talked to the children about his profession and the various experiences he has had all over the world. Amongst the many stories he told, we found out about the time he met George W. Bush at the Whitehouse and the time he spent in different war zones. The children were transfixed by his many tales and anecdotes and asked many interesting and pertinent questions.
